Dance Teaching

As a teacher I am interested in rounded student growth through student investment and discovery. My teaching style is often high energy, upbeat, enthusiastic, and highly interactive. I work with people of all ages and abilities and in a wide variety of styles. I believe in fostering movement exploration and bodily integration. My teaching has ranged from classes in specific styles, general overviews, teaching assistantships, and dance education integration courses.
Through my time at the University of Montana and in Missoula I had many opportunities to teach and work in the community. This past year I taught at Ballet Arts Academy, teaching tap and jazz classes to students ranging from 6-15. I also have had the wonderful opportunity to teach at many festivals and conferences including Thespians, UM Days Prospective student day, American College Dance Association Northwest Regional Conference, and the Missoula County Public School Discover Your Future Conference. Through the M.O.D.E. Program in Montana, I taught in three separate school classrooms teaching integrated dance and academic core classes as well as specific dance styles. I worked with two Elementary School classrooms and two High School Classrooms, working with 10-25 students in each group. At the Missoula County Public School Conference, I also had the opportunity to share dance integration with groups of students during two and a half hour workshops.
Dance has instilled in me countless benefits and discoveries, shaping the way I see and interact in the world, giving me my voice and confidence, integrating my body, and connecting my spirit. As a teacher, I aim to share these gifts and discoveries through movement with my students.
