Choreography

As a choreographer and dance artist I have been drawn to investment and discovery through movement, movement languages and conversations, and integrated connections. My recent research has been into the rhythmic interactions of movement and the ability for the body to be used as an instrument in movement. Most recently my work has been presented at SAFEhouse Arts, LEVYdance, and Dance Mission Theatre. In the spring of 2015, I produced an evening length work, Rhythmic Motion, at the Headwaters Company Studio in Missoula, Montana. I am drawn to live performance and am intrigued by the integration of video and projection with live dance.

Rhythmic Motion

May 18-19 2015

By: Arina Hunter

Rhythmic Motion was an evening length dance concert, which I choreographed and developed with a group of four dancers as the culminating project for my B.F.A. in Dance from the University of Montana. The concert explored the body as an instrument in movement through body percussion, vocals, and sound scores. It played with the development and manipulation of a movement language and conversation through a variety of mediums. Along with integrating live performance, video dance, projection, and the interaction between them.

Performed at: University of Montana Dance Productions Dance In Concert 2015, Dance New Works 2015, in the Missoula Community Rhythmic Motion produced by Arina Hunter

This piece is an intimate exploration into vulnerability, chaos and control, and the external and internal self. The inner struggle riving under the surface working to appear composed. The desire to be seen as the real whole you. This battle between the chaos of the hidden struggle and the desire to maintain control. The live dance and video projection interact and collaborate together to expand the mental words and revealing.
